Acer offers you DockMate V - an expansion unit to which a notebook PC can be connected to achieve performance comparable or superior to a desktop PC. Normally the power is turned off before units are docked/undocked, but as with PC cards, it is possible to dock or undock them while the power of the notebook PC is still turned on, and the power of the expansion unit will operate dynamically, generally turning on by itself at the time of docking, and turning off by itself at the time of undocking. Acer DockMate V provides the industry leading-flexibility. It uses a unique modular design, known as AcerLink bay, to give users a choice of CardBus slot or Wake-on-LAN module.
